The atmosphere of Morocco

Generally Morocco has a temperate climate with more continental climate found inland. The climate of this country can be divided into following three categories.

Mild and Temperate Climate

Continental

This climate is experienced on the Atlantic coasts. Neither summers nor winters are harsh. Typical example of this type of climate is Rabat. The average high in summer is 82 F (28 C) while the average low is 46 F (8 C). The mildness of the climate is due to cool canaries current which flows past Rabat in summer holding the summer temperatures quite moderate as compared to the inland stations.

The Mediterranean Climate

This climate is found at or near the Mediterranean coast. This region has hot dry summers and cool wet winters. Tangier, a typical hub in this region has a summer high of 86 F (30 C) and a winter low of 48 F (9 C). The top rainfall occurs in November and December. The months of July and August are practically dry.

The Continental Climate

The chief characteristic of this type of climate is extremes of temperatures. The summers are hot and winters in comparison are quite cold. This climate is found inland farther away from the sway of sea. At Fez, for instance, the midday climatic characteristic exceeds 100 F (38 C) in July. In January, the climatic characteristic often falls to frosty point. The best time to visit this area is Spring and Fall when the temperatures are moderate and the weather dry.

In short the climate of Morocco varies from place to place. On the coastal locations, it is ordinarily mild while farther inland it is distinctly continental.
